THE DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD: AN EVENING WITH IAN TOEWS

DATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 9, 2018

TIME: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

LOCATION: CAMPION COLLEGE AUDITORIUM (REGINA, SK)

Every year, the Department of Film at the University of Regina presents a worthy alumnus with its Distinguished Alumni Award - an honour meant to highlight filmmakers who have made excellent and outstanding contributions to the art of film, and the film industry, with their work.

In association with the Living Skies Student Film Festival, the Department of Film is pleased to present its 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award to Ian Toews.

Ian received his BFA in Film Production from the University of Regina in 1999, and has since gone on to produce more than 70 hours television episodes, as well as many feature and short film. His projects have been screened and broadcast around the world, and he has won and been nominated for several prestigious awards for his work.

Toews will talk with great candour about his life and documentary career. From the U of R years and his last student film, "Four Corners" (1998), through the 50 minute "The Nature of Inspiration" (2011), and to the present day. Excerpts of other documentaries will be discussed, including "Saskatchewan River Delta" (2010), "Great Minds of Design" (2012), "Bugs on the Menu" (2016), and "Ageless Gardens" (2018).

A reception will follow at the University of Regina's Fifth Parallel Gallery, where food will be provided and drinks will be available for purchase. We hope to see you there!
